DIRECTOR Carla Barros

Carla Barros has extensive experience in the non-fiction audiovisual market, directing and creating diverse content for television, digital platforms, and advertising films, always highlighting and amplifying female-driven narratives.
An observant, detail-oriented, creative professional, she is passionate about original formats that blend humor, resilience, and popular entertainment.

With the ability to move seamlessly across different genres and languages, she took on the role of general director of the iconic program Saia Justa (GNT) in 2024, where she put into practice her skill in portraying and engaging in meaningful dialogue with women of our time.

She has led large-scale, high-audience projects, such as the reality show The Circle Brazil (Netflix), produced in England, where she brought her strategic perspective to multiple areas of production while also exercising her creativity in adapting the format to the Brazilian context.

With a keen sensitivity to translating client direction into compelling storytelling, she directed the successful Latin American advertising campaign “Nice to Meet Me” (for Merz Aesthetics), which won Silver in Branded Content at the Colunistas Awards.

She holds a degree in Advertising & Marketing from ESPM and studied filmmaking in London at the London Film Academy. She worked professionally in theater for several years and studied actor training in New York with Susan Batson. Her award-winning fictional short film “Sara and Mimi” starred the renowned actress Laura Cardoso.

Her most recent original project was developed after a year-long immersion in the Brazilian Amazon: the documentary Boto Sereia portrays individuals who challenge tradition by expressing their gender identity through carimbó.
